Self-exclusion

Administration of the Tasmanian Gambling Exclusion Scheme (TGES) is centralised at the Department of Treasury and Finance. People can be excluded in a number of different ways:

  • Self-Exclusion – where a person excludes themselves from a venue or specific gambling activity. This is organised through a Gamblers Help counsellor. Contact either Relationships Australia  1300 364 277 or Anglicare 1800 243 232
  • Venue Operator Exclusion – where the licensee of a venue excludes a person where they believe that the person’s behaviour is affecting their own welfare or the welfare of others.
  • Third Party Exclusion – where a person with a close personal interest in the welfare of another person applies to the Tasmanian Gaming Commission for that person to be excluded.
  • Self-Exclusion from Internet-based Gambling – where a person experiencing a gambling problem through an internet-based gambling site excludes themselves on-line or by speaking with a Gamblers Help counsellor.

For further details see the Tasmanian Gambling Exclusion Scheme

Note: People who breach their self-exclusion in any venue in Tasmania are subject to a penalty. The penalty cannot exceed 20 Units and 1 unit = $130. The patron however, is entitled to take their winnings.
