You can call the Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 to speak confidentially to a trained gambling counsellor. The Gambling Helpline is available to support anyone affected by gambling.

The Helpline provides immediate access to qualified helpline counsellors, who can provide counselling, information and referral to a range of support services. Depending on your needs, the counsellor can talk to you over the phone. Or, if you feel ready, they can refer you to see a trained professional for ongoing counselling.

The Helpline can help family members or friends to support someone with their gambling recovery, but it can also provide them with self-care support during this challenging time.

The Helpline provides immediate access to qualified helpline counsellors, who can provide counselling, information and referral for you or the person you’re working with to a range of support services. Depending on your needs, the counsellor can talk to either of you over the phone. Or, if the person you’re working with feels ready, they can refer them to see a trained professional for ongoing counselling.

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Calls are free and aren’t listed on phone bills.

Gambling Helpline counsellors can provide the following:

  • confidential and free support
  • crisis support
  • someone who will listen and understand
  • referrals to local ongoing gambling counselling services
  • information
  • tips and strategies to help people achieve their goals

For help in another language, call the Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858, and a counsellor can organise an interpreter for you. People with a hearing or speech impairment can contact the Gambling Helpline through the National Relay Service.
