Understanding your gambling

Gambling can affect people in different ways and at different times in their lives. Harm doesn’t look the same for everyone, and it isn’t always easy to notice.

Checking in on your gambling can help you understand whether it’s harmful, staying manageable or showing early signs of risk. Many people check-in like this as a preventative step, particularly during times of stress, financial pressure or change.

How can you assess your gambling?

A quick way to check in on your gambling is the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI). It is a short set of nine questions about your experiences over the past year.

You simply choose how often each statement applies to you, from never to almost daily. It is completely anonymous and it only takes a few minutes. The results can help you understand where you sit on a spectrum of risk and identify steps that might help protect your wellbeing. If you would like to explore your gambling and learn more about ways to reduce harm, you can take the quiz now.
